The
South East Queensland area seems to be a breeding ground
for hard core 4WDrivers and it seemed only logical to
create a club dedicated to those with a keen interest in
running, competing and marshalling in 4WD events as well
as getting together to tackle some of the Toughest
Tracks the 4x4 parks and the local terrain have to
offer!
With this in mind an enthusiastic group of drivers and
families got together in late 2004 and formed the “Tough
Tracks 4x4 Club” and became incorporated into the QLD
4wd association.
Members from all over Australia drive a diverse range
of vehicles with lots of friendly rivalry between brands
adding to the interest on club outings, members are as
varied as their vehicles and encompass all age groups
with families playing a big part in keeping the club a
fun and friendly group of people.
Members activities include weekends away to 4wd parks
and touring the outback and top end as well as getting
together to enjoy the spectacle of the various 4wd
events held around the country. Recreational club day
trips are also quite popular.
The club works hard at promoting itself as a
responsible part of the community and has helped out
with displays at fundraising events in regional and city
areas.
In Late July the club put on a display at Drake to aid
the Westpac Helicopter appeal.
At the Bayside Show and Shine, club members took away
runner up Best Toyota, Best Jeep, Best Nissan, Best
Modified, Judges Choice and Best Team Entry.
These Vehicles are also some of the top ranking trucks
from the Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge. The members enjoy
these outings and will continue to support these needy
charities in the future.
2005 was a big year for the club as it started up the
highly successful Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge series held
at various 4WD parks around South East Queensland.
The three round series has two levels so just about
anyone from first timers to experienced competitors can
enjoy a fun filled weekend and the friendly atmosphere
adds to the enjoyment.
Spectators are well catered for with all the action
happening directly in front of them and where terrain
permits the two different class tracks are run close to
each other to keep the action happening.
A
lot of the club members are also members of other 4wd
clubs but have joined up to enable them to get out with
a group who are not afraid to push themselves and their
vehicles to the limit but at the same time have respect
for someone who knows their limit.
There is no pressure to “have a go” but plenty of help
and advice if you decide to try… speaking of help and
advice, with most members having highly modified trucks
there is no shortage of information available to help in
your own vehicles build up.
